What a long strange road it’s been. After years of controversies, a year off the air, and a year back on NBC (and Peacock), the Golden Globes landed on CBS (and Paramount+) for 2024. Some very talented, beautiful people made their way to the Beverly Hilton with the hope of, if not winning some awards, at least getting in a few laughs. If Chris Perfetti had bothered with a shirt, his suit selection might have been one of the better ones of the evening. It’s striking, but doing it shirtless was a strange decision that greatly overrides the suit itself.My impression is that Gary Oldman is simultaneous doing IDGAF about all this fashion stuff while having a perfectly tailored, simple tux. It’s brilliant.I have no idea what Rosamund Pike’s stylists were after, but I readily acknowledge such artistic choices are way over my head.

Goth prom dress?
I thought it was Tilda Swinton till I read the title. She looks…alien. Like, in a good way, but seriously, if we’re doing a movie where the aliens send someone who looks like a human…she’s in.
My goal in life is to figure out how to dress like Gary Oldman, every day.

Gillian Anderson, Jennifer Lawrence, Rachel Broshanan and Julie Garner all look stunning.Angela Bassett looks thick and gorgeous.Andrew Scott’s forehead is making me nervous.
Jeffrey Wright, as expected, is the single coolest, classiest motherfucker right there. All the dudes need to get the number of his tailor…and have Mr. Wright teach them how to dress them selves.
I thought the same about Gillian Anderson. I also thought that Halee Steinsfeld rocked the Audrey Hepburn look. Natalie Portman’s dress was delightful but spoiled by her deer-in-the-headlights expression.
Not fashioning Pedro Pascal’s sling into some kind of Groku was a missed opportunity.

I’m in no way the target audience for looking at people standing still in “fancy” apparel, so I’m not going to look through 135ish slides. Ever. But if you want to try and get people to do just that, you should never start out with as unsettling of a pic as that Ricci one.
