3 out of 5 Spice Girls will reunite and go on tour

We’re less than two months out from the 20-year anniversary of The Spice Girls’ Spice, the album that taught the world what it wanted, what it really, really wanted, at least in terms of poppy British girl groups with adjectival nicknames. To commemorate the anniversary of the group’s best-selling debut, Mel “Scary Spice” B went on James Corden’s Late Late Show last night to make a big announcement: three of the original five Spice Girls are planning to go on tour. (Amazingly, she somehow managed to drop the news without being lured into an impromptu rap battle, or forced to entertain Corden on his simulated ride to work.)

According to Mel B, the reunion will feature her, Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton, and Geri “Ginger Spice” Halliwell, and will probably start in their native Britain, where Spice was released on November 4, 1996, quickly becoming the best-selling “girl group” album of all time. Meanwhile, when Corden asked her why Victoria Beckham and Mel C were sitting out the trip, Mel B zigazig ah’d, first joking “Because the other two bitches didn’t want to do it,” before asserting that they’re just busy, and the group members still support each other in their pursuit of Girl Power.
