In Uncut Gems, Adam Sandler plays “Howard Ratner,” a harried diamond dealer who’s frantically looking for the next big score, all while juggling his family, his mistress, and his creditors. It’s a role that Sandler plays masterfully, and one that could lead audiences to wonder why Sandler doesn’t take on more serious projects. As he told The A.V. Club at the Toronto International Film Festival, though, it’s mainly because he doesn’t get asked. That discussion, plus talk about John Mulaney and Nick Kroll’s Oh, Hello, Lakeith Stanfield’s wholesale diamond score, and basketball is above.

When he does play serious roles he’s credited as being shockingly good (Reign Over Me, Funny People, Uncut Gems) and when he doesn’t play serious roles in serious movies, he’s having movie companies pay him to hang out in vacation spots with his friends.  Dude’s living the life.

    Will they post a transcript?

There’s only 3 comments on this 72 hour old piece. The ad revenues from such a dwindled viewership can’t cover Marah’s salary to write the scant copy she wrote, never mind the hours it’d take to transcribe this.

Don’t they have a computer program that transcribes audio? I would guess that kind of technology exists but maybe I’m wrong?

I thought Funny People was a good role for him. I re-watched the other night. It was a good mix of serious and not.
