Adam Sandler wants to make rom-com history… again. The actor is currently promoting his new Netflix film Murder Mystery 2 with frequent on-screen love interest Jennifer Aniston. Aniston, meanwhile, recently teamed up with his other rom-com partner, Drew Barrymore, to honor Sandler as he received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. It seems that having all three together may have given the Sandman some ideas.

While the two rom-com queens took the stage on Sunday, they exchanged some banter to that effect (per People). “We should do that movie that you and I have been talking about,” Aniston suggested, with Barrymore replying: “You mean the one where we don’t need that goofy boyfriend?”

“It was just an idea we thought we’d be funny cause there was a Twitter thing a couple years ago and they’re always sort of comparing us, as to who’s the better movie wife, movie love, so we just thought we’d do a little bit on that,” Aniston explained in an appearance alongside Sandler on Good Morning America on Wednesday.

Sandler confirmed that “everybody loved it,” later adding that “Jennifer’s gonna write” a new movie for himself and Barrymore. In fact, the pair say they’ve “been pitching the idea” for a project that features them as a trio.

“We want to do all three of us together and just put an end to this competition,” Aniston proposed, though Sandler corrected, “There’s no competition, just two great ladies.” However, he added, “That would be amazing doing a movie all together.”

Lots of the old rom-com stars have been getting back in the game, so putting these three together feels like a no-brainer. Time to start brainstorming ideas for the perfect Barrymore/Sandler/Aniston screenplay—drop your best pitch in the comments!

Yeah, but it should still be all three of them. It would keep things, as Thanos would say, perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

I agree. I think its sweet when Adam sings ‘I could be the man who grows old with you’ and Drew starts to cry because they have grown old together 🙂

Either it ends with Jen and Drew picking each other and telling Adam to piss off. Or it’s like that line in Dodgeball where Vince Vaughn says that sometimes there’s two special people for one person and that he calls it the jackpot, which he himself gets at the end with Christine Taylor and her lesbian lover, so Adam/Jen/Drew together.

So it’s not enough that he makes movies that are just thinly-disguised exotic vacations for him and his pals, now he’s using them to arrange three-ways?

He’s still a wedding singer who’s hired to sing at a lesbian wedding with Drew & Jen. But 50 days before the wedding, they forget who each other are, so he has to take them out on a bunch of dates with him where they randomly run into each other and fall in love again. Most of these take place on a golf course where he amuses them by using a hockey stick to putt. By day 50, Jen & Drew have recovered their memories and are back in love, but Sandler learns that his degree in singing has been revoked and he has to repeat school entirely, but the only place willing to take him is a prison school. He makes this tolerable by playing on the football team for the school/prison and is able to graduate in time for the wedding, but learns that he has a terminal condition, ditches the wedding and spends his final days running a day care. He goes to hell and learns he has two brothers there. Fade to black and cue credits with outtakes.

Sandler is starting to look an awful lot like Kevin James.

On the one hand, “world’s are colliding here, Jerry” so I don’t know how to feel about that. On the other hand they could just go the route of two gals find out their two-timing boyfriend is one and the same, so they decide to have some hijinks at his expense, but then they play the enemies-to-friends trope and combine forces to bring about world peace. Y’now, that ole chestnut..
