It’s been three years since Mom and I checked in on Saturday Night Live, so we decided it was time for a fresh look. Mom largely came to the same conclusion as A.V. Club critic Dennis Perkins, who called it a “middling” installment of the sketch series, but Kate McKinnon earns praise despite her mediocre surroundings—nothing new for McKinnon. But while Mom has nothing but love for McKinnon, we agree that Alec Baldwin’s rendition of the president lacks the excitement it once had.
