Alec Baldwin’s Trump wears thin on SNL, but Kate McKinnon never does

Aux Features Mom On Pop

In the Mom On Pop podcast, Bonney Teti—mother of A.V. Club TV host John Teti—shares her unfiltered thoughts on the pop culture of the day.

It’s been three years since Mom and I checked in on Saturday Night Live, so we decided it was time for a fresh look. Mom largely came to the same conclusion as A.V. Club critic Dennis Perkins, who called it a “middling” installment of the sketch series, but Kate McKinnon earns praise despite her mediocre surroundings—nothing new for McKinnon. But while Mom has nothing but love for McKinnon, we agree that Alec Baldwin’s rendition of the president lacks the excitement it once had.

In this episode, we also share tales of a Halloween “circus show” that doesn’t quite live up to its billing, and we salute the sterling work done by national advice columnist Amy Dickinson in her Ask Amy newspaper feature. Give it a listen, and don’t forget to watch the A.V. Club TV show every Thursday night on Fusion, hosted by me! My mom says it’s great, and you can definitely trust her opinion.

Mom On Pop is available on Apple Podcasts, and there’s a podcast RSS feed if you want to subscribe to the show in other apps. Never miss an episode!
