It’s so silly, so stupid.” The video also adds an unfunny “French people like to smoke” joke, some anti-comic book movie quotes from Scorsese and Ridley Scott and then acts like this is a current feud between Jeunet and Whedon instead of Jeunet reacting to statements that Whedon said over two decades ago (and, oddly, never mentions that Whedon made these statements in an AV Club interview)
I love how they characterize this as an “escalating feud” and end the video looking forward to “the next exchange of insults” between Whedon and Jeunet. At the current pace of this “escalating feud” Whedon’s reply should happen in 2040. I’m sure Whedon will have some saucy things to say on the heels of Micmacs’ 30th anniversary…
So The Onion has this “joke” whenever a mass shooting happens they run the same headline “‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happen”.For the AVClub they should just make a video that says “Auteur hates crowd pleasing films”and just run that anytime we get one of these news stories
If they weren’t so obsessed with autoplay, they could go a step further and just put up an image with a giant 50% opaque play button over it. No one would willingly click it and find out it wasn’t a video.

What a time saver that would be. And they wouldn’t even need to waste storage space hosting a video most of us won’t even watch.
