AMC’s very good, very sexy Interview With The Vampire sets its return
AMC also announced the expansion of its Anne Rice universe with a third show after IVTW and Mayfair Witches

TV’s most stunning vampires—we’re trying to be respectful here—are almost back. Interview With The Vampire returns for its anticipated second season in May, AMC confirmed at the 2024 Television Critics Association’s winter press tour. The sexy gothic horror drama is, of course, based on Anne Rice’s 1976 novel of the same name. While the book may have gotten a film adaptation in 1994 starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, the series carves its own path with its two own equally talented leads Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid.
The show follows Louis de Pointe du Lac (Anderson) telling his life story to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian), going back to when he was a wealthy Black man in 1910s New Orleans. He met and fell in love with a vampire, Lestat de Lioncourt (Reid), who turned him into a creature of the night as well. Daniel listens, trying to figure out what parts of Louis’ complex story are true or false.
Season two will premiere on May 12 and consist of eight episodes, with Delainey Hayles replacing Bailey Bass in the crucial role of a teen Claudia. It picks up in 1940 when Louis and Claudia conspire to kill Lestat, while in the present day, he tells Daniel about his Parisian adventures. Billions star David Costabile joins the show in a guest role.
At the TCA panel, AMC also confirmed that season two of Mayfair Witches has begun production. It’ll premiere later this year. Led by Alexandra Daddario, it’s the second AMC series based on a Rice novel. She plays Rowan Fielding, a doctor who discovers her witchy lineage and that a sinister presence has been haunting her family for generations. The cast includes Jack Huston, Harry Hamlin, and Tongayi Chirisa.
That’s not all; AMC is expanding its Anne Rice universe with a potential third drama. You know what, sure. Everything’s a franchise nowadays. Developed by The Blind Side’s John Lee Hancock, it will focus on The Talamasca, a secret society that researches the paranormal. It’s often featured in Rice’s novels, including the ones ITVW and MW are based on, so if it’s a go, get ready for plenty of crossover opportunities.
