An 'N Sync road trip comedy is in the works, thanks to Lance Bass

Aux Features Lance Bass

It’s hard to believe that there was a time when nice, wholesome fan shenanigans meant worming your way onto a game show in order to win an RV so that you could comfortably follow your favorite frost-tipped boy band on tour, but there was. It was the early-aughts, and if that time feels like a bit of a metallic-tinted blur, don’t worry: Lance Bass is developing a road trip comedy that will bring us right back.

The former ’N Sync member-turned-film and television producer is currently developing a film based on the true story of two girls who competed for—and won—a Winnebago on The Price Is Right in order to follow the band on their final tour. Their journey was featured in an MTV special about the tour around 2001, where the traveling fans not only met the band, but also learned that boys would be paying for the taxes owed on their RV. We do love a practical gift.

Bass has indicated that music would play a major role in the film, though it is unclear as to whether or not that will include the band’s iconic song catalogue. There is already potential for the project to be adapted into a Broadway stage show once it premieres, so we can only hope that this project includes a robust “Space Cowboy” number. There is no word just yet regarding whether or not his former band mates will have any involvement in the film.

Will Timberlake rip someone’s shirt off during the movie?

Which Beatle was the cute one was debatable (although, it’s objectively Paul), but N*Sync’s drop-off from JT doesn’t really leave any room for discussion does it? Man, I know fashion is cyclical but I just can’t see the goatee coming back from that.

I’m sure I’ll be inundated with proof and scolding for being such a cynic, but Girls Win RV On Price Is Right To Follow N Sync And Then N Sync Pays For The RV sounds like the fakeiest fake shit this side of Fake Lake in Fake County, Fakonia.

Geez, another genteel road comedy? Who’s gonna direct, Alexander Payne?

“Surprisingly, the blackface turned out to be the least offensive part about the film.” ~ Leonard Maltin, probably

It’s actually just footage from Lance Bass flipphone, who plans to cut the film together from his many hitchhiked rides. So, kind of ‘found footage horror, but a comedy’, except instead of horror or comedy it’s just kind of sad.I hear he’s changing the ending, too, to a Hollywood ending where he finds a whole quarter on the sidewalk.

I still watch Joey Fatone’s cooking show ‘My Family Recipe Rocks’ on the Live Well Network (M-F 6.2 Philly) following Rick Bayless’ Mexico: One Plate at a Time. Have seen all episodes of both shows. I’m a poor person. Btw, Rick Bayless also hates his older brother Skip like the rest of us.

The secret is that the Live Well network hasn’t had a new show since 2009 or so and is repeating the same stuff over and over as a placeholder for the company that now owns that bit of basic cable/antenna real estate.

What I learned from watching some ‘N Sync videos is that they only need to pony up the cash to have Timberlake and JC Chasez in the movie. Nobody will notice if the other three are replaced with puppets.

I know it was a joke but Space Cowboy was a low-key bop. Left Eye spat a verse!
