Andy Samberg had some apologizing to do after NBC revived Brooklyn Nine-Nine 

Comedy fans let forth a hearty hurrah earlier this year when Brooklyn Nine-Nine was saved from cancellation by NBC, the very same network where star Andy Samberg came of age on Saturday Night Live. While one might imagine this would be a cheery reunion for the Lonely Island member and his formative network, it turns out that there’s a dark spot in their past: NBC initially passed on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

“NBC passed on it,” Samberg said in a new Conan interview. “I was coming off SNL and I felt very close to NBC and I took it really personally. I kinda told everyone to go to hell.”

While he’s clearly riffing when he says he “swiped stuff off people’s desks” and “punked some people” in the mailroom, the comment does make one wonder if there perhaps was a bit of awkwardness when Samberg shuffled back into 30 Rock, hat in hand. “Suffice to say,” he adds, “the last month or so has been a bit of an apology tour.” A shame, that, since there’s perhaps no greater feeling than being desired by that which previously rejected you.
