Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh’s comedy intro at the Golden Globes was pretty good, with a good-natured “roast” about how talented everyone was, a funny line about the hosts least favorite race (the L.A. half-marathon), and a very good gag about Lady Gaga’s frequently reused anecdote about Bradley Cooper believing in her. As good as it was, though, there were some pretty good jokes that didn’t make the cut—and also some fairly bad jokes that justifiably didn’t make the cut. Samberg shared the rejected jokes on Seth Meyers’ Late Night, rattling off a list of them with some side commentary on why they were cut and whether it was good that they were cut. (For the record, the Spike Lee joke about the Knicks is better than the audience reaction would imply.)
As fun as that clip is, here’s an extra challenge: Comedy Bang! Bang! host Scott Aukerman has teased on Twitter that he wrote “one of the worst” jokes, so watch the clip and try to guess which one! He revealed the answer, and we won’t spoil it here, but it’s definitely the one that sounds the most like something he would laugh at. Anyway, now that we’ve referenced both Scott Aukerman, CBB, and Andy Samberg, that can only mean one thing:

The Golden Globes comedy was the biggest pile of shit I have ever seen. They were horrible and Ricky Gervais should host every damn year.
He can’t host, cause God forbid millionaire celebrities get their feelings hurt.
I enjoyed this very much, and I’m all in favor of this sort of thing becoming standard practice after awards shows. We got to hear a John Mulaney joke we wouldn’t have heard otherwise! That’s a treat.
I would also not object to Andy’s next talk show appearance featuring a read-through of jokes written for the Golden Globes that were not strong enough to read during his Seth Meyers appearance. Scrape the bottom of that barrel!

I discovered from this that Scott Aukerman has blocked me on Twitter for some reason and I am now wracking my brain to figure out what I could have said or done to have caused that. My twitter is almost entirely bad jokes for my own amusement and complaining to corporate accounts when I can’t solve a problem. I have barely 300 likes in total after close to 10 years on Twitter, and my hottest take of 2018 was implying that Mulaney may not have actually seen Back to the Future. I have no idea how I would have drawn enough attention to warrant an interaction of any kind from him, much less a block.
If you think that all Scott Aukerman knows about you is what you say on Twitter then you’re in for a rude awakening, my friend.
