Spring music season is officially in full bloom and April brings us a variety of music in genres ranging from electronic to heavy metal. On April 28, disco-house diva Jessie Ware makes yet another triumphant return to the dance floor with That! Feels Good!—her endorphin-rushing follow-up to 2020’s What’s Your Pleasure? Other highlights this month include 72 Seasons, the 11th studio album from veteran headbangers Metallica. We’re also getting solo outings from Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock as well as a rare musical project from celebrated author and graphic novelist Neil Gaiman.

Jessie Ware is getting better and better. I saw her on the Devotion tour some years back (Sam Smith opened; first time I had ever seen them; did not like). She was so rough around the edges. Sang these beautiful tunes and then would do audience chitter chatter with kind of a snotty, chirpy ‘tude. Maybe some insecurity or something that she has now very clearly shed. Kind of incongruous. Still a good show.What’s Your Pleasure is one of the best albums I know for walking in the morning in the city. It just feels so fucking great.
Similarly, Angel Olsen is only getting better too. Comparing Big Time or All Mirrors to Burn Your Fire For No Witness is just futile. She knows who she is, and she’s out of the chrysalis.
Looking forward to the Murder Capital and Caroline Polachek shows coming up in the next few weeks. Spring is coming, friends.
Yesssss new Daughter album! But the rest of the month doesn’t excite me much. I’ll listen to the new Metallica once probably.

Within the first hour it was announced, I had already pre-ordered the new Metallica album. Been a fan since 1987 and two most recent albums were damn good. Saw them live in 2019 and they are still fantastic in concert.
