Arrested Development's Portia de Rossi joins another family of monsters on NBC's Munsters remake

According to Deadline, NBC has signed Arrested Development and Better Off Ted alum Portia de Rossi to star in Bryan Fuller's Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane, no doubt intrigued by her past work experience in dealing with terrible families and accepted evils with a sharp, sarcastic tongue. Of course, de Rossi has also become known for working on short-lived cult series with other iconoclastic directors, but considering this is a dramatic remake of The Munsters, it could certainly suffer worse fates. Anyway, de Rossi landed the role of vampire matriarch Lily only after the show's first choice, True Blood actress Mariana Klaveno, was unable to free herself from ABC Studios' Devious Maids, which is still under consideration for possible pick-up by Lifetime. De Rossi joins a previously announced cast that includes Jerry O'Connell as Herman, Mason Cook as Eddie, and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, plus Charity Wakefield as Marilyn—the below set photo of whom just surfaced on Shock Till You Drop, offering the first grimy, apparently Hipstamatic-ed look at the show. They did say this was going to be dark and gritty, after all.
