Sorry, emo kids, you’re going to have to wait even longer to see My Chemical Romance on their comeback tour. While bands continue to announce very ambitious summer and fall tour dates, My Chemical Romance are opting to be extra cautious, pushing their previously rescheduled summer 2021 dates to spring and summer of 2022.
The band made the announcement on their site, writing, “We are deeply sad, but those emotions are only a fraction of the depth of feeling we have all experienced watching the suffering and loss of the past year. We just want to be as sure as we can be that everyone is safe. Refunds will be offered to anyone who wants them. We are sorry if this is disappointing, and we REALLY can’t wait to see you in 2022. All tickets will be honored for the new dates. If you are unable to attend, refunds are available at your point of purchase.” And instead of playing this year’s Riot Fest, they’re opting to wait until 2022's festival dates.
The new tour dates are listed below.

Curiosity. What do y’all think is the correlation or causation of teenage white dudes who listened to scene music in the early aughts, music by which mostly other white dudes were very open about their emotions, and were made fun of for listening to that music becoming grown up angry and violent people because they got made fun of for listening to music that allowed them to wallow in their emotions?
No. I do not think that there is that.
Thanks for sharing the blog!!

Probably the same as the correlation between people who played Dungeons and Dragons engaging in ritualistic child sacrifice in the name of Satan, or perhaps the kids who listened to heavy metal deciding to shoot up their schools. Don’t you have a PTA meeting to ruin?
Unlike punk, which was defined and over analyzed for DECADES, I still have no idea what the fuck emo is other than the worst possible homogenized rehashing of punk by Hot Topic. Somehow, I think I’m dead on. If it really is nothing but EMOTION-centric songwriting then it is nothing more than over-amped seventies pussy rock.
Well, first you had “emotional hardcore” (Moss Icon, Rites of Spring) which was just 80s hardcore except the lyrics weren’t about doing meth and kicking somebody’s teeth in, then there was “Midwest emo” (Cap’n Jazz, The Promise Ring, American Football), which was all sullen math-rock with button-down shirts and fiddly undistorted guitar lines all over the place, then you had the mall-punk/pop-emo thing, where My Chemical Romance were the Beatles to everyone else’s Gerry & The Pacemakers (I suppose Fall Out Boy can be the Stones, at a push) I hope that helps.
