The Predator prequel Prey (pictured), Natalie Portman’s Oscar-winning turn in Black Swan, Michael Fassbender in the erotic psychological drama Shame, the first Ghostbusters, and Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy are just a few of the many notable movies premiering on the Hulu streaming service in August. There’s also a mind-bending thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal, an inspirational documentary about a famous sushi maker, and the mother of all found-footage horror films.

This fifth installment in the Predator franchise serves as a prequel to the first four films and premieres only on Hulu. Set in the Comanche Nation in 1719, the sci-fi action movie follows a warrior named Naru (Amber Midthunder) who tries to protect her tribe from an alien with advanced weaponry and cloaking technology. Hulu viewers have the choice of watching the movie either in English or Comanche with subtitles because the cast recorded all of their dialogue in each language.

If you enjoyed 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife as much as we did

The AV Club review gives it a C.

With the fact that X-men Origins is on this list, you’ve lost all credibility in my point of view….wishing you had more of that Deadpool on screen…what are you thinking?!

Watch it,You are gonna hurt List-O-bot 9000’s feelings.  The AVClub techies did not have to program it to feel pain but the bosses didn’t want it to have any special treatments over the other interns they abuse here for content daily.

My main memory of that Wolverine movie is that it had a truly absurd number of scenes where a character stares at the heavens and screams in rage and grief.

I get that you guys love making these lists but maybe the word “best” can be dropped X-Men Origins Wolverine is not and never will be the best of anything. It’s the worst. At everything. Also can’t wait for Prey to get C rating here. Maybe instead of “best” say “The top 15 most interesting” release on X platform

Depend if my new glasses have arrived yet or Not.

I will. Sure watching it with Comanche dialogue would be more realistic, but I’m here to be entertained and it’s 100% more entertaining being able to understand the spoken dialogue instead of having to read it. This is assuming it’s actual recorded takes in English instead of just dubbing their voices over the Comanche, which if it isn’t would probably change my opinion. Keep in mind we watch movies/shows all the time about places where the characters would normally be speaking other languages but it’s all done in English because they’re made for American audiences. Do you also complain about movies set in ancient Rome not being done in Latin?

Very much looking forward to Prey, but if you haven’t reviewed or even seen it yet, you shouldn’t claim it’s one of the 15 best films coming to Hulu.

    • interlinked-av says:

Looking at some of the movies on the list, odds are that Prey is going to be better than at least one of them.

      • ghboyette-av says:

They do set a low bar, and now having seen Prey I’d say it is among the best. I freaking loved it.

I watched it a few days ago and thought it was pretty good too. Nice to get an enjoyable Predator franchise movie. It’s been a while.

PC types are offended by “everything”? Actually, I’m doing just fine sharing water fountains with black people and sometimes taking direction from a woman at my job. Let’s get rid of the stupid trope about the weakness of modern people. Our grandparents were the ones who couldn’t manage to live in society without lots of whining and demands for special rules. I actually don’t care where I sit on a bus.

  • themightymanotaur-av says:

Why would a best movies list ever have both Wolverine Origins and Chronicles of Riddick?
Just how bad were the other movies being added?
