Everyone celebrates Valentine’s Day in their own way, and sometimes that way can be hiding in their room and watching movies until all the roses and pink hearts pass. For horror fans, whether they’re coupled up or not, the holiday (like virtually every holiday) is an opportunity to delve into seasonally appropriate scary movies.

Part road movie, part horror film, all love story, Luca Guadagnino’s , an adaptation of Camille DeAngelis’ celebrated novel, follows two outsiders, played by Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet, as they fall in love after learning they have the same craving for human flesh. What follows is a challenging, heartbreaking, and yes, romantic odyssey about two people contending with their monstrous side together, determined to love and be loved even as the world pushes back against their lives.

“Liv Tyler’s Kristen has just rejected her boyfriend James’ (Scott Speedman) marriage proposal”

Well, what a perfect Valentine’s Day movie!

Chris Sarandon’s seduction of Marcy Darcy in Fright Night is far more romantic than anything in BS Dracula.

Egregious omission on Candyman. God himself couldn’t convince me that movie was scary, that was a romance.

Bone and All was so incredibly overrated. I’m down with the rest of this list though. Especially Mandy.

I’d be interested in an updated version of Misery that followed the book…The sledgehammer was a sick twist but using the ax to remove the foot was WAY more interesting!

I think that would have been too bleak, even for Misery.  At least with the “hobbling” there’s the hope of healing.

Nice list! Can’t wait for Lisa Frankenstein.

Confusing headline since the upcoming LOVE LIES BLEEDING isn’t a horror movie. Get your synergy right, kids

Re: The Strangers (*spoilers, sort of*)I get why it is included on this list, but I disagree. First off, that movie is relentlessly bleak. Second, I don’t think it has much to say about the power of couples or whatever. The main characters are clearly not on the same page as a result of the failed proposal and the reaction to the events that unfold during the night are fairly in line with human beings. Both of them are just trying to survive and get out – they don’t even really work together to affect that. It does not have much to say what a couple will go through or what they will endure – it has a lot to say about people up against unfortunate circumstances seldom have a chance.
