Black Panther superfan Kendrick Lamar is trying to get a part in the sequel

Kendrick Lamar put together a great soundtrack for Black Panther—or rather, an album inspired by Ryan Coogler’s groundbreaking entry into the MCU—and now he wants to book his ticket to Wakanda. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, the Damn. artist reveals he’s no longer content to just curate the music for superheroes and villains. Lamar was so impressed by Michael B. Jordan’s nuanced performance as Erik Killmonger, the main villain in Black Panther, that he’s now ready to follow in his footsteps. He tells the host, “Come on, I got to now… I really enjoyed Killmonger’s character, just off the simple fact: he was a villain but he came some real, he was dropping them jewels. He was a villain, but he was loved and misunderstood. So if I could, I’d play a Killmonger for sure.”

Marvel Studios hasn’t green-lit a Black Panther sequel yet, but given the $476.6 million domestic haul and overwhelmingly positive critical response for the first film, it seems to be just a matter of time.
