But what if iconic movie slashers were rendered as Scooby-Doo villains?

The Creeper, the Miner 49er, and the Wax Phantom may still loom large in the nightmares of those who grew up watching Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?, even though these supposedly “dangerous” fiends were revealed as nothing more than harmless, mask-wearing frauds at the ends of their respective episodes. What if the nosy kids of Mystery, Inc. and their meddling mutt encountered more formidable foes than these in their travels, ones who weren’t just pretending to be murderers in order to keep people away from surprisingly-valuable amusement parks? Such were the thoughts of artist Travis Falligant, a.k.a. IBTrav, who has given the world an assortment of illustrations that imagine horror film icons of the ’80s and beyond as classic era Scooby-Doo villains. Here, for instance, is the familiar gang being menaced by a nude, chainsaw-wielding Christian Bale.

Other characters depicted in this series include Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, and Jason Voorhees. There’s even an Evil Dead II crossover in there for the connoisseurs. All that’s missing here is a chortling laugh track, some looping animation, that indelible background music, and a few dozen repetitions of the words “Zoinks!” and “Jinkies!”
