The White Lotus is gearing up for another season of class tensions and sexual politics amid its guests’ luxurious rooms and delicate egos, and they’re inviting an HBO regular for a stay. Carrie Coon, previously of The Leftovers and currently of The Gilded Age, is the latest cast member announced for Lotus’ third season. She joins the series’ obligatory stacked cast that includes Jason Isaacs, Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Michelle Monaghan, Tayme Thapthimthong, and perhaps the most exciting new guest, Parker Posey, who seems perfect for Mike White’s hilarious haves and have-nots satire.

The one returning cast member this season is Natasha Rothwell, who reprises her role as Belinda, the spa manager of Jennifer Coolidge’s dreams. Coolidge has yet to be announced for the latest season for obvious reasons—though we’d love to see her back in any form. Season three of White Lotus will reportedly take place in Thailand, where the likes of Michelle Monaghan and Leslie Bibb can humiliate themselves in front of the locals.

While we still have some time before the next season of The White Lotus premieres, we can begin our celebration of Carrie Coon’s entry into this elite club. Previously, the Lotus welcomed F. Murray Abraham, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Steve Zahn, and Sydney Sweeney. This is also the hotel where Murray Bartlett took a dump in a suitcase and won an Emmy for it. We can only hope that the future is just as bright for Coon.

Coon is no stranger to anthology shows. In 2017, she starred in that bizarre season of Fargo where Ewan McGregor played twins, and David Thewlis played the most disgusting creep ever to grace a television screen. Will White Lotus season three be just as strange? We’ll just have to hope that David Thewlis is the next actor cast.

Fuck. Isaacs, Posey and now Carrie Coon?  I might have to watch this stupid show.

I really hope Natasha Rothwell’s character was left all of Tanya’s money or Coolidge returns as Tanya’s twin sister. it’s too bleak to think Greg got all the money. i don’t need that type of realism in the white lotus.

Maybe the season can start with a title card saying “Greg drowned. In between seasons. In an unrelated accident.”

I don’t think it makes a ton of sense that Tanya left her ALL her money. She did have a shit ton though so I could see Tanya leaving the woman who helped her through her mother’s death a few million as a “thanks, sorry I fucked you over a bit back there” payment. Especially if she and Greg got married quick and she was editing her will cause of that anyway.

good point about it how it wouldn’t be all her money. Looking forward to what plays out. i’m hoping Tanya had a Greg-free will.

Every season of this show has a ridiculously good cast. Looks like season 3 will be no exception.

PP is cool. But this is the “get”. Even more excited now that CC has joined.

Carrie Coon has built an interesting career. If you are one of the relatively small number of people who know who Carrie Coon is, there’s a good chance she’s your favorite actress.

She is amazing. Broke out in the worst role in Who’s Afraid Of Virgina Woolf, stole Gone Girl from Rosamund Pike, and then The Leftovers. Love her, but can’t bring myself to watch The Gilded Age, though she seems to have the right attitude to the material.

Be sure to check out The Sinner season 2 and Fargo season 3.

I saw Fargo, she was great in it, and the Hollywood interlude and animation sequence were beautiful, but not even Carrie Coon could rescue The Sinner.

I see where you’re coming from re: The Sinner. But I still kinda found it compelling. Not good, per se, but somehow compelling. Probably exclusively b/c of her performance.

Yeah, I thought her character in that season of Fargo was unique and complex, much like her role in The Leftovers.

Did she do the Albee play on Broadway? I didn’t know that. Now, it’s a play that I’ve always loved but it is kind of dated, and Honey is probably the least interesting character. I tried to watch The Gilded Age myself, because of the cast with her, Baranski, and Nixon. But it is just too overstuffed and too enamored with wealth. Which is predictable considering it’s created by Julian Fellowes. Side note: I think modern people tend to misinterpret the moniker ‘The Gilded Age’ and why Twain initially coined that term.

My wife should never know the extent of my crush on Carrie Coon.

If my couch is any indication, you might both be keeping the same secret! 😉

    • marty--funkhouser-av says:

I know her brother and sister-in-law. But I haven’t been invited to meet her yet. Probably for the best as I crush on her too.

  • jeninabq-av says:

White Lotus continues it’s phenomenal casting. It makes sense given the quality of White’s writing and directing and his seemingly humble work personality. Let’s hope Zaslav and co. keep their dirty corporate hands of this show and it’s productions.
