Cee Lo Green’s Grammys outfit is part of his new “Gnarly Davidson” persona

Anyone watching tonight’s Grammy Awards may have noticed that Cee Lo Green has transformed into what is either a Dark Souls enemy or an anthropomorphized Ferrero Rocher, but rather than simply the unveiling of a new (and weirdly badass) fashion aesthetic, Green is actually showcasing his new persona: a character known as Gnarly Davidson. Green actually revealed the new persona to XXL last week, releasing a short statement that doesn’t actually explain anything:

Look at me… LOOK AT ME! YOU DID THIS TO ME CEELO GREEN, YOU FUCKING IDIOT. BUT I LIKE IT, I’m actually…BETTER! Than you… than everyone! A karmikaze upon you! Vengeance is mine sayeth GNARLY DAVIDSON. P.S. TECHNOLOJESUS saves.

If the gold doesn’t do it for you, Green—or, rather, Gnarly Davidson—showed up to the pre-Grammy party on Saturday in this black variant:

The black version looks a lot more intimidating than the gold, and the lights make it look like he could be the villain in a Daft Punk movie about a war over funky beats, so maybe he’ll just keep showing up to events in different colors that we can keep making jokes about.
