Chicago, see Mae Whitman (her?) in The DUFF early and for free

Based on a popular teen novel of the same name, The DUFF is the tale of a high school senior who finds out she is considered the Designated Ugly Fat Friend. Though neither ugly nor fat, Mae Whitman (of Arrested Development and Parenthood fame) takes the lead role and is joined by Robbie Amell and Bella Thorne as attractive teens. In the same vein as Mean Girls and Easy A, the cast is rounded out by adult funny people (Ken Jeong, Allison Janney, and Romany Malco) who are likely just as lost and dysfunctional as the teens. The film opens February 20, but The A.V. Club has an opportunity for you to see it for free two days early on February 18. For your chance to win, follow the link here and enter the code DUFF146. As always, the screening is first come, first served, so be sure to arrive early. An official plot synopsis and trailer can be found below.

“Bianca (Mae Whitman) is a content high school senior whose world is shattered when she learns the student body knows her as ‘The DUFF’ (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) to her prettier, more popular friends (Skyler Samuels & Bianca Santos). Now, despite the words of caution from her favorite teacher (Ken Jeong), she puts aside the potential distraction of her crush, Toby (Nick Eversman), and enlists Wesley (Robbie Amell), a slick but charming jock, to help reinvent herself. To save her senior year from turning into a total disaster, Bianca must find the confidence to overthrow the school’s ruthless label maker Madison (Bella Thorne) and remind everyone that no matter what people look or act like, we are all someone’s DUFF.”
