Chicago, see Paddington early and for free

Paddington may have unwittingly become the star of a creepy meme, but, lest the Internet forget, the marmalade-loving bear has been charming the Brits for well over 50 years. And, to the surprise of many, he continues to charm in the book-to-film adaptation, which received positive reviews when it debuted overseas this past November. Ben Whishaw voices the bear and he’s joined by a stacked cast of heavy-hitters, including Sally Hawkins, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, and Nicole Kidman as an evil taxidermist. Paddington opens stateside on January 16, but The A.V. Club has an opportunity for you to see the family film early and for free on Saturday, January 10. For your chance to win a pair of passes, follow the link here and enter RSVP code PADINGTON3 (yes, there is only one “D” in the code). Remember, seats for advanced screenings are first come, first serve, so be sure to arrive early. You can find the official plot synopsis and trailer below.

“From the beloved novels by Michael Bond and producer David Heyman (Harry Potter), Paddington tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear (voiced by Ben Whishaw) who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says ‘Please look after this bear. Thank you,’ and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist.”
