Watch This: Conan O’Brien brings Hot Ones doctor on his podcast for a check-up

Rest assured, Dr. Jose Arroyo went to “Doctor School.”
Though many YouTube plebs believe him a quack, O’Brien’s Hot Ones physician, Dr. Arroyo, appeared on the comedian’s podcast Conan O’Brien Needs A Fan. Played by longtime Conan writer Jose Arroyo, the good doctor commits to the bit like he’s in danger of breaking the Hippocratic oath—despite Dr. Arroyo being unfamiliar with the sacred promise (he has heard of “confidentiality,” though). This man has heard of “house calls” and “medical school,” but he prefers to take his patients to “this restaurant downtown,” the bathroom of which provides many of the tools for his examinations. A quack? Don’t make us laugh.
O’Brien’s Hot Ones interview “broke the internet,” as marketing people used to say when a magazine published a picture of a butt in 2015. Throughout the interview, the former late-night host introduced America to Dr. Arroyo, who would periodically check in on his patient spreading scolding hot sauce all over his body. Later, O’Brien admitted to a laundry list of injuries sustained during the interview, including “runny” eyes, a “really hurt” mouth, and burning sensations under his wedding ring.
That’s not to say that Dr. Arroyo wasn’t monitoring his patient closely. “If you want a good first opinion for any medical thing,” he said, “come to me.” Testing his doctor’s skills, O’Brien used Hot Ones as an example. During his Hot Ones appearance, Dr. Arroyo “applied a stethoscope to [O’Brien’s] tongue,” which received some blowback in the medical community.
“I was listening for any kind of aberration,” Dr. Arroyo explained. “Any kind of weird, um, thing, you know. Basically, I listen to your tongue, and I didn’t hear any screaming. I didn’t hear anything unusual. It was dead, so I thought you were fine.”

I think my favourite Dr Arroyo bit from the ‘Hot Ones’ episode was this exchange:“Where did you go to medical school?”“1998.”
I didn’t realize this video is 11 years old but it’s hilarious. Conan takes the piss at the The Land of Lincoln and it richly deserves it. Eleven years later, still the same.
