It’s been more than a year since Jay Leno stole The Tonight Show back from Conan O’Brien, and while the ensuing “I’m With Coco” imbroglio has long since settled, the new documentary Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop is set to rip off a few scabs when it hits theaters on June 24. Following O’Brien as he embarks on his “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television” tour, the film picks up days after he’s dumped, then trails him around the country as he channels his anger into an exhausting series of concerts and press conferences, (sort of) mockingly terrorizes his staff, and eventually curls into a fetal position as he’s overcome by his own fears and frustrations. Some of that crying-on-the-inside stuff suggests the film is pretty much the comic version of Radiohead’s Meeting People Is Easy, but as always, Conan finds a way to turn his own personal misery into entertainment, something backed up by the early reviews. Besides, we already know how it ends.
