Conan O’Brien’s toils must continue, overlords at Max declared today, as the streamer announced—as part of its much bigger upfronts presentation—that O’Brien’s recent travel show, Conan O’Brien Must Go, has been extended for a second, and even longer, new season. Whereas the first season of the series—which saw O’Brien travel the globe to meet fans in Ireland, Argentina, Thailand, and Norway—only cursed O’Brien to four episodes of his long sojourn, this new installment will extend his grim duties to six as-yet-unnamed locales.

O’Brien, at least, is willing to put a cheerful face on his endless slog across this pitiless blue marble, noting in the announcement of the renewal that “This latest travel show has been so fun and rewarding that I suspected it was all a cruel prank. My apologies in advance to the next six countries.”

In all honesty, the first season of Conan Must Go was a ton of fun for viewers, too, taking the infectious energy of many of O’Brien’s legendary on-location shoots from his various talk shows, and blowing it out into the much wider world. Sure, he did typical travel show bits, like visiting the farmstead where his great-grandfather once worked, or taking tango lessons in Argentina. But always with an eye toward creating the comedic chaos that the man still clearly delights in, so many decades down the line. In fact, one of the biggest criticisms of the show’s first season was that it only ran for four episodes, so while we might worry a bit about O’Brien being contractually obligated to endlessly circle the planet, we’ll be more than happy to feast on the results.
