Denver, see Pan’s Labyrinth tonight as part of our Fantastique series

Howdy! Senior writer Jason Heller here. Just wanted to let you know that Fantastique, The A.V. Club’s monthly fantasy film series, continues tonight at Alamo Drafthouse Denver with Pan’s Labyrinth. Released in 2006, Guillermo del Toro’s tale of magic and myth amid the totalitarianism of Francoist Spain is one of the most spellbinding movies of all time, a dark fantasy full of fairytale eeriness and haunting imagery (especially when seen on the big screen). With del Toro’s latest work, Crimson Peak, currently in theaters, now is the perfect time to revisit the film that cemented his position as one of cinema’s foremost fantasists.

Like Science Friction (Fantastique’s sister series at Alamo that focuses on science fiction), Fantastique is curated and hosted by yours truly. I’ll be there tonight to introduce Pan’s Labyrinth and pick the winner of this month’s giveaway: a copy of the hardcover book The Art Of Neil Gaiman, courtesy of HarperCollins.

As with all Fantastique and Science Friction screenings, this event is sponsored by The A.V. Club. Tickets for Pan’s Labyrinth are on sale now.
