Disney+ just confirmed a string of original programming that will be available on launch day, November 12, along with a first look at their individual posters. The forthcoming streaming platform announced the slate via their Twitter account, solidifying a premiere date for some long-discussed titles like The Mandalorian and Lady And The Tramp. The remainder of the bunch includes an original holiday film, Jeff Goldblum presumably being Jeff Goldblum, and an addition to a major franchise that is absolutely not a reboot or remake, and how dare you even assume otherwise.

The announcements arrive just ahead of the Disney+ panel at D23 Expo, which is currently taking place in Anaheim, California. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (the mouthful, the editorial nightmare) will follow a group of students who attempt to produce a musical for a school project. Jeff Goldblum’s docuseries The World According To Jeff Goldblum will take a look at the histories and science of everyday joys, like ice cream and sneakers. Noelle, a completely original film, stars Anna Kendrick, Bill Hader, and Billy Eichner in a story about Santa Claus’ daughter, who must take over the esteemed family business.

We’ll be on the lookout for more details, which will surely trickle in throughout Disney’s big weekend.

Okay but will it have Recess?

    • soylent-gr33n-av says:

Will it have all the episodes of Clone Wars and Girl Meets World? These are the questions my kids and I need answered. Both of us for the former, them more so for the latter.

      • whitespyder9-av says:

I had heard that Disney+ is for sure going to have the entirety of Clone Wars, especially since they’ll be offering “the final season” on the service.Jury’s still out on GMW.

      • laurenceq-av says:

Don’t let your kids watch Girl Meets World.

    • brontosaurian-av says:

      Not if it’s raining.

    • cpz92-av says:

I was just thinking about Recess The Movie the other day. I remember the plot involving a tractor beam pulling the Moon closer to the Earth so that it would always be so snowy and cold that there would be no more recess or something.  Man oh man the things that entertained us as children…

      • lockeanddemosthenes-av says:

I think they were trying to eliminate summer vacation and the movie takes place on the last day of school or something?

    • Vexorg-av says:

I hardly watched the show, but in our family, we still refer to anything really nerdy as being “pale kid” stuff.

Solid; had to check the byline ‘cause I knew it weren’t no Barsanti or Hughes. There’s a glimmer of hope, here.

  • kevsmart-av says:

I normally hate Christmas movies but how can I not watch one with AK and Hader?

  • argiebargie-av says:

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.High School Musical: The Colons

  • toasterlad-av says:

Isn’t Bill Hader, like, 30 years older than Anna Kendrick?

    • harpo87-av says:

      He’s 41 and she’s 34, so… no. This one is actually a fairly realistic pairing, age-wise.

    • brontosaurian-av says:

What are you questioning here? Did I miss a part about them having an inappropriately matched association in the movie or something in this article?

      • nilus-av says:

I think the assumption is they are a romantic couple but who knows, may they are siblings(or he is her Dad!).  Sexy any way you slice it

    • bradaboutyou-av says:

lol I hope he sees that comment cause that’s hilarious

    • yesidrivea240-av says:

The other commentor already corrected you, but I want to know how old did you imagine them being?

      • toasterlad-av says:

I imagined she was 20 and he was 52. I stand by it until I see their long-form birth certificates.

        • doug-epp-av says:

I always think Bill Hader is older than he actually is. He’s unusual in Hollywood, that way. Anna Kendrick, on the other hand, has been “early 20s” for me since 2009’s ‘Up in the Air’, and remains so to this day.

    • yummsh-av says:

      Are you ok?

    • schaughnwulph-av says:

If only there was a tool I could use to get my question answered before I make an asinine comment.Hmmm. I should google that.

    • lmh325-av says:

He’s like 7 years older than her and they aren’t supposed to be a couple. They’re brother and sister according to the press release on the movie. The plot seems to be centered around her going to find her brother (Hader) who is supposed to be the next Santa after he disappears.

  • iambrett-av says:

I just think it’s neat that Hulu and Disney+ will be bundled for pretty cheap. I’ve been dragging my feet on getting a Hulu subscription, even though it would get me all the Seinfeld episodes.

  • nextchamp-av says:

I believe that Jeff Goldblum series came about because, while on Conan O’Brien’s podcast, he discussed wanting to do a travel show with Conan. Sadly there’s no Conan in this series…But hey, you can thank Conan for creating another thing.

    • toronto-will-av says:

I think The Mandalorian came about because the Star Wars cast appeared on Conan in 2015, and talked about Star Wars. Who can say that’s not true?

  • martianlaw-av says:

The Noelle movie looks like a mock ad from the internet. I’m thinking that might be Hader’s and Kendrick’s biggest payday.

  • yummsh-av says:

That Jeff Goldblum show is basically Mr. Wizard on microdots. The fuck.I bet Sam Barsanti is SO MAD he didn’t get to write this article. His version of it would’ve included a whole lot more instances of the words ‘fuck’ and ‘cocksuckers’.

  • footlessdata507-av says:

This is all very well and good, but it’s time for Disney to finally answer the question everyone has been asking: will their streaming service host Guy Williams’s Zorro TV series?

  • grimweeping-av says:

Thank you, Disney, for not releasing a single thing I want to see. I will enjoy saving my money.

  • henrydorsetcase-av says:

Is Comcast going to carry Disney+?   I can’t find that information in any of the announcements.

  • gwbiy2006-av says:

Noelle sounds like a pretty standard TV Christmas movie, but Bill Hader makes me hope for a little more. And if Billy Eichner isn’t doing his Billy Eichner thing  while dressed as an elf, then it’s going to be an awful waste.

  • praxinoscope-av says:

Not exactly A-list material. They could have at least started with a presentation of some classic fare like “Snow White” or “Fantasia” then tossed in something recent, like a big Marvel movie, and maybe some kind of “Star Wars” special. Then drop some new genuinely original content featuring big names they’d kept under close wraps and wind it down with some all night nostalgia from across the decades. This looks more like a lame mix of The Hallmark Channel and TLC. Very underwhelming and makes the old Disney Channel programming look good by comparison (who wouldn’t be up for some “Ink and Paint Club”?) Disney used to have pride in its legacy or at the very least acknowledged the nostalgic love.

    • schaughnwulph-av says:

Unless I’m misreading your comment, this is simply a lineup of their original programming on day 1. Most of that other stuff you’re asking for will also be available on day 1.

  • marshalgrover-av says:

Lady and the Tramp looks like that 102 Dalmatians movie they did. Also, still no official word on Muppet stuff. Blerg!

    • lmh325-av says:

The Muppet facebook page released a statement that in 2020, they would be releasing a new short-form series called Muppets Now that will include celebrity guests and that more news would follow.

  • bennyboy56-av says:

Hmm, an “original” holiday film and a new series based on Boba Fett’s life at the same time? We know what you are doing Disney!

  • laurenceq-av says:

I’m assuming Noelle was downgraded from a theatrical release because Disney realized they made the exact same movie already in 2006 with Jenny McCarthy and called it “Santa Baby”….?(And even Santa Baby is only one of easily a dozen or more “adult child of Santa” holiday movies that are floating out there.)Fuck Noelle, is my point.

    • peterjj4-av says:

There were also some TV-movies with Crystal Bernard that my parents used to watch – I prefer those as Jenny McCarthy is scum. I do wonder exactly why this was made. It was done two years ago. I don’t think Bill Hader really cares about these things but I still cringe a bit when I see people saying that he “sold out” after Barry and It, as if he shot this in his backyard last week.

      • lmh325-av says:

Bill Hader has 3 pretty young kids. I think the oldest is 10 and the youngest is like 7. I can see him wanting to do a movie that his kids can watch even if it hadn’t been made two years ago.

    • taumpytearrs-av says:

I actually watched an entire terrible Hallmark movie last Xmas because it had Maria Thayer as Santa’s adult daughter, and I have had a crush on her since Strangers with Candy. Oh, Tamela…

      • laurenceq-av says:

Oh, I know that movie. I *almost* watched it because of my crush on Maria Thayer. But then I decided not to. Sorry, Maria. I guess Taumpy has proven he’s the better man for you.

        • taumpytearrs-av says:

She’s mine! All mine! *cackles maniacally**then my wife kneecaps me and she runs away with Maria forever* Well, I should have seen that coming.

  • thatguy0verthere-av says:

Does Disney+ have anything worth paying for? I haven’t seen evidence yet.

  • stairmasternem-av says:

Look all I really want now is the new Duck Tales since I don’t own cable / Disney XD service.

    • lmh325-av says:

Supposedly, old Ducktales and the first season of the new Ducktales will be available the day it launches. Also Goof Troop which also makes me very happy.
