Dolly Parton is no stranger to the theater. She’s contributed music and lyrics to the Tony-nominated 9 To 5: The Musical as well as Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas (a musical based on Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol). However, today’s news is the pinnacle: Parton announced a new musical based on her own life, with her own music. It’s titled Hello, I’m Dolly (not to be confused with the Broadway classic Hello, Dolly), and the country superstar is writing the music, co-writing the book, and producing the show, which is set to take the stage in 2026.

Parton first announced the news about her show—which shares a title with her debut record—from the stage of the CMA Fest in Nashville. In a statement (via Deadline) “Hello, I’m Dolly, and I lived my whole life to see this show on stage. I’ve written many original songs for the show and included all your favorites in it as well. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll clap, you’ll stomp, it truly is a Grand Ol’ Opera. Pun and fun intended. Don’t miss it!” On social media, she added that she’s “been writing my life story as a Broadway musical for several years.” Parton’s co-writer is Maria S. Schlatter, who collaborated with the artist on Christmas On The Square which was, yes, another Christmas musical Parton wrote for Netflix.

It’s still early in the process for any additional details, so we’ll just have to wait and see what lucky Broadway actor gets to step into Parton’s extra-high heels and big, blonde wig. While you wait for that important news, you can tide yourself over by sipping Dolly Wines, which Parton also announced on Thursday. “I’m very excited to officially launch @Dollywines today!” she wrote on Twitter. “Crafted with love, these wines are the perfect addition to spending time with family and friends. You can pre-order now at dollywines.com, so let’s raise a glass together!” Is anybody out there hustling harder than Dolly Parton?!
