Don Henley threatens to sue Frank Ocean over "American Wedding"

Well, here it is—your unlikely cross-genre music-industry feud du jour: Singer/rapper Frank Ocean says the ever-territorial Eagles vocalist Don Henley has threatened to sue him over his song "American Wedding" because it re-purposes the melody of “Hotel California”—the massive 1977 Eagles hit for which Henley shares a writing credit—without permission. “Don Henley is apparently intimidated by my rendition of ‘Hotel California,’” Ocean wrote on his Tumblr. “He threatened to sue if I perform it again. I think that’s fuckin’ awesome.” We’d show you a cool video of "American Wedding," but alas—YouTube clips of Ocean’s live performances of the song have now been muted and slapped with the “not authorized by all copyright holders” notice. [via Pitchfork]
