Drake, St. Vincent, Josh Homme, and more to host new Apple radio shows

Aux Features Music

Taylor Swift might not be 100 percent behind Apple’s new streaming service, but Drake is: The rapper and press conference personality will host a radio show on Beats 1, the company’s new streaming radio station. He’ll be joined there by St. Vincent, Elton John, Zane Lowe, Josh Homme, Jaden Smith, Pharrell Williams, Dr. Dre, and Disclosure, all of whom will host weekly shows on the station. According to a piece in the New York Times, John’s show will be called “Elton John’s Rocket Hour,” while Dr. Dre’s show will be called “The Pharmacy.” The whole idea for Beats 1, which will be free for anyone with an Apple device, came from Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor, who, as Chief Creative Officer for Beats, said he wondered “if in today’s world there is still a place for monoculture. Can that still exist?”

Beats 1 launches June 30 alongside Apple Music.
