Exclusive: SpongeBob SquarePants to go spookily stop-motion for Halloween

Aux Features TV

SpongeBob SquarePants is venturing back into the world of stop-motion animation for a new Halloween special. SpongeBob SquarePants: The Legend Of Boo-Kini Bottom will air on Nickelodeon in October, and will find our sea-dwelling hero decked out as a flower and facing off against the terrifying Flying Dutchman, who’s voiced by Brian Doyle Murray. All your other SpongeBob favorites are also costumed, save Squidward, who’s much too square for that sort of thing. Production is happening now, and—take it from us, as we recently had a sneak peek—it’s really something to behold. (More on that later this year.)

This is SpongeBob’s second foray into stop-motion. The first, SpongeBob SquarePants: It’s A SpongeBob Christmas!, aired in December 2012.
