Summer movie season comes earlier every year, and 2024 is no exception. After surviving the harsh winter with nothing to warm us but a Madame Web and a Mean Girls musical, the ides of March bring a diverse batch of movies back to the cinema. Dune: Part Two, Kung Fu Panda 4, and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire are but a few of the sequel offerings from major studios, while a healthy crop of comedies, horror films, and thrillers round out a busy month.

Cast: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte RamplingDirector: Denis Villeneuve Hype, not fear, is the mind-killer. Can live up to the impossible expectations of a three-year wait and ? There’s only one way to find out. Dune: Part Two arrives with the difficult task of wrapping up a complicated, multi-layered story with the grandeur displayed in the series’ first, fantastically structured and executed installment. There’s an expectation that Dune Part Two won’t be simply a good movie but the best movie. It should never have been held to such a standard, but if we set our stillsuit to properly tempered excitement, we can enjoy one of the most stacked casts in recent memory riding sandworms for two-and-a-half hours.

John Knox is a very strange choice of name.

Really looking forward to Dune 2 and Love Lies Bleeding. Can’t wait to see Luca in theaters as well, I think my 4 year old will love it.

The amount of original movies is nice, especially given the title of this article and the previous “40+ movies to look forward to in 2024″ that featured ~35 sequels, prequels, reboots, reimaginings, etc. Also, did David Alan Grier film his scenes the same day as he did for “The Patient”? Or is his wardrobe his actual clothes?

“recent string of successful Jack Black movies”Nothing against Jack but I can’t think of one recent one, never mind a string.Edit: oh, he was Bowser. So there’s the one.

    • learn-2-fly-av says:

Yeah him as Bowser has been his only really big success recently, though admittedly its very big and gotten him a lot of attention. He’s actually done way more weird small projects the past few years, which I think worked out a lot better for him than the blockbuster comedy shit that he was in for so long.

Remember when he was in a Star War with Lizzo and Christopher Lloyd and it wasn’t just a cheese dream we all shared?

Knox Goes Away looks like it could be really good or really bad.  Either way it has Michael Keaton in it so I’m on board.

Looking forward to Dune 2. All three Kung Fu Panda movies have been fun so this one will probably be a well. The farther away I get from Afterlife the more I dislike it. Say what you will about the 2016 reboot but at least it was a comedy first(for at least the first two acts) Afterlife feels like a movie made by someone who saw the original movie once when they were like 6 and didn’t understand that it was a comedy and then made a movie about 40 years later.  It’s just so self serious

Shudder > BlumhouseMichael Keaton has aged into this vibe where he feels built for crime movies
Training Day with paramedics? Lol. Oh, but I must

I want to be really excited for Godzilla x Kong because I love the lizard and thought that GvK was brillz through miraculously holding a balance (mostly) of being wrapped up in its own fucking stupidity without being obnoxious. I want to be excited…but I’m definitely not.I love Wingard but this is almost certainly going to be his Meg 2.

Also having a Godzilla movie in theatres while the dust of Minus One is still settling is… a bold choice.
