It’s been almost six months since, to the excitement of both Fast & Furious superfans and protestors, filming wrapped on the long-awaited 10th installment of the series. Titled Fast X (frankly, a downgrade from The A.V. Club’s proposed moniker, FasTen Your Seatbelts), the first half of the two-part finale has been in the works for years now— but a new trailer just kicked the rollout into high gear. Released today, the film’s first teaser promises lots of explosions, lots of booty shorts, lots of heartfelt glances, and of course: lots of Dom.

FAST X | Official Trailer

The trailer finds Dom looking over trophies and photos from his early career. Now preparing his young son to join the family business, Dom is torn: he wants to pass on his craft, but also wants to protect those closest to him. As the trailer demonstrates, that’s a tall order in Dom’s line of work, which can involve anything from evading a plane dropping a car on another plane to wearing sleeveless shirts. All in a days work!

The clip also offers a glimpse of Paul Walker— although Vin Diesel previously hinted that a CGI performance from the late series staple could be a part of Fast X, the clip could just be archival footage. Series veterans like John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jason Statham, and Sung Kang also all return.

“That’s the problem with having such a big family,” Jason Momoa’s villainous Dante warns Dom at one point as they prepare for a race. “How do you choose the ones you save?”

Although some of the extensive series’ greatest stars will be a part of Fast & Furious’ final ride, there’s also some late-game additions. Longtime director Justin Lin is out, with the reins going to Incredible Hulk and Now You See Me’s Louis Leterrier. There’s some new faces in front of the camera, as well: Jason Momoa’s “quirky and androgynous” Dante hasn’t met the family before, and the indomitable Rita Moreno joins the cast as Dom’s (Vin Diesel) abuela. Reacher’s Alan Ritchson is also making his Fast & Furious debut as, presumably, another one of Los Angeles’ biggest boys.

Fast X arrives in theaters on May 19, 2023—just over three months to perfect your movie theater parking lot Tokyo Drift.

Bold of them to make a 3:43 movie, but it was fun.

  • cosmicghostrider-av says:

Ew really CGI Paul Walker? LOL we gonna get CGI Boseman in the next Avengers film too? Yikes.

It’s batshit crazy as usual, I wouldn’t expect anything less. Once again, it looks like the movie gods have continued their time honored tradition of releasing FnF movie on my birthday, too.

Drove to space last time ,drive to a new universe next?

  • capnjack2-av says:

So this trailer raises an interesting question: does Jason Momoa have a weirdly thick neck or are light colors crazy unflattering. He’s better looking than I’ll ever be…but in this trailer he looks like a thumb in shirt.

  • adamtrevorjackson-av says:

love that they’ve genuinely run out of locations and set pieces at this point, so everything looks like a greatest hits compilation of other fast/furious movies. anyway i’ll watch that garbage.

  • braziliagybw-av says:

One of the greatest reasons of pride in my life is having never watched a single one movie in this entire franchise. Yet, after watching this trailer, I couldn’t avoid to notice the lack of changing in the hierarchy of candy-assness…

Remember when these movies were about some corners kids stealing VCRs with 1999 Honda Civics?

  • mchapman-av says:

As a commenter on Gizmodo noted, three Oscar winners in this one. Say what you will, but everybody seems to want in on the shenanigans.

The 2nd gen Dodge Charger yet again as the star car of the F&F franchise…god I love this series. Absolutely 100%.
I’ll be first in line at the theater.  My car…the star.

  • stevennorwood-av says:

So in a couple of films Momoa will be an ally, yes? This series – which has become incredibly tiresome – does that a lot.

  • dudebraaa-av says:

If Andrew Tate were a film franchise.

  • dirtside-av says:

Of course I’ll see this, but what’s up with the giant rolling death sphere? Like, what even is that? Also I like how apparently Jason Momoa was there the whole time in Fast Five but, like, just out of frame.

    • garland137-av says:

I thought it was a naval mine at first, but it crashed through a lot of things without blowing up.And I’m guessing Momoa is the brother/son/something of the drug kingpin they ripped off?

    • coatituesday-av says:

what’s up with the giant rolling death sphere? I think maybe it’s a wrecking ball. I hope it’s a giant opaque hamster ball though.

      That’s no moon, it’s a space station!

  • daveassist-av says:

So, instead of CGI characters based off of known actors, when will we see CGI characters powered entirely by script and AI?  What will film look like then?

  • actionactioncut-av says:

Is the Torettos having been coded as Italian in the first couple of movies before the shift to them being Latino something I made up? Is this my Berenstein Bears?Anyway, Paul Walker’s death just revealed that he was the secret MVP of the franchise and now it’s just Vin Diesel and a rotating cast of guys with giant necks standing around admiring Vin Diesel.

    • adamtrevorjackson-av says:

i think justin lin was mvp of the franchise. it’s telling that he escaped production on like day 3 of this one, despite directing 5 (!) of these already.also not sure about the italian/latino connection. jordana brewster was his sister in the first movie and john cena was his brother in the last movie. tough to find any connective tissue there!

    • radarskiy-av says:

Call them Argentine and they can be both.

      • actionactioncut-av says:

I’m married to a Brazilian — watching half-Brazilian Jordana Brewster say “I’m Portuguese” in The Faculty was already enough for my wife; Argentines would be a bridge too far.

  • razzle-bazzle-av says:

This trailer made me realize how little I remember from the most recent movies. Cena is Dom’s brother, but I have no clue who Helen Mirren, Brie Larsen, or Charlize Theron are. Also, Dom has a kid? And I guess Han is not dead for a second time?

  • putusernamehere-av says:

Fast 10: Your Seatbelts is a better title than Fast X, which sounds like an antacid.

  • docprof-av says:

This movie will be terrible and amazing and I am greatly looking forward to seeing it and then even more greatly looking forward to seeing the next one when Jason Momoa has joined the family.

  • igotlickfootagain-av says:

I genuinely enjoy Jason Momoa, and I’m glad he’s fulfilled his destiny by being in one of these absurd delights that are the FF movies.
