After emerging as one of Apple TV+’s most promising new series, Ronald D. Moore’s For All Mankind is suiting up for its second season premiere next month. Today, the nascent streamer shared a punchy new trailer for the series, which explores what it might have looked like had the USSR beat the U.S. to the Moon.

Season two picks up 10 years after the first, with the militarization of NASA amping up alongside the rise of the Cold War. As the Americans and Soviets prepare for intergalactic warfare to control the moon’s resource-rich sites, the characters are divided in their attempts to resist or capitalize upon the conflict. It’s all very dramatic, especially with the Eurythmics playing beneath it all.

Watch the trailer below:

For All Mankind’s second season premiere arrives on February 19, with new episodes dropping every following Friday on Apple TV+. A third season of the series has already been confirmed.

Where’s Dolph Lundgren when you need him?

I love how the show’s central viewpoint is that a history where the USSR beat us to the moon would actually have been BETTER than what really happened in a lot of ways. Anyone looking for a grimdark “Commies take over the world” story is advised to go elsewhere.

As I’ve said before, this thing is wildly uneven – to the point of moments of greatness and mediocrity in the same episode. Perhaps that improves this year.I note at least two prominent but weaker S1 storylines that appeared to be completely missing from the trailer. Moore clearly had a multiple season arc in mind for most of his ideas, so I suspect they’re still in there even if they’re not action oriented enough for the For All Mankind: NASA Troopers edit that we saw here.Would be great if AV Club decides to review individual episodes, since there is indeed a market opportunity; nobody besides a couple bloggers did so last year.

As this show is going on at the same time as Disney+’s The Right Stuff, I am getting “irritating Gordon Cooper” overload. For All Mankind’s Gordo is a bit more of a raging tool than his Right Stuff counterpart

the corner on the right in the first image is from the title sequence of the auto racing movie with James Garner open wheeled 1960s Formula 1 racecar on a road cambered slightly down to the right going over the crest of a slight hill the car turns to the left to the outside of the road turns right as it goes over the rise then turns left as it goes down the hill and the road curves to the left it’s filmed and edited in a hypnotic style the reply is probably someone falling asleep at the wheel and crashing their automobile or drugged with a hypnotic either intentionally or accidentally
