Forrest Gump is coming to IMAX, because life is like an enormous box of chocolates

Aux Features Film

If your main problem with Forrest Gump—Robert Zemeckis’ outsized epic of good ol’ American stick-to-itiveness—is that it’s simply not big enough, then you, that one guy, are in luck. To mark the Oscar-gobbling drama’s 20th anniversary, Paramount is mounting a re-release of Forrest Gump on IMAX screens across the continent. Imagine that wafting feather caught in a breeze, a symbol of fate’s fickle happenstance, now stories high and careening towards you as Alan Silvestri’s delicate score booms out with the commanding power of 100,000 alpenhorns. Imagine our plucky everyman bellowing, like a colossal titan howling over the precipice, “LIEUTENANT DAN: ICE CREAM!” You’re going to need a bigger bench.
