From the creator of 30 Days, 30 Songs comes 1,000 tracks to keep you sane in Trumpworld

Dave Eggers’ 30 Days, 30 Songs project attempted to create art out of misery, debuting an original anti-Trump protest song every day for the last month of the 2016 election. (Highlights included entries from Death Cab For Cutie, Aimee Mann, Moby, and more.) And while Eggers and his collaborators don’t necessarily have the musical energy to fill the next four years in Trumpworld with a new composition every single day, they do have something to give people a change to rage a little, smash some stuff, and take off the edge. Eggers has announced that is new project is 1,000 Days, 1,000 Songs, a curated playlist that pledges “to have a new protest song added to it each week day (Monday-Friday) for the next four years.”

For Inauguration Day, 1,000 Days is kicking off, fittingly, with a live version of R.E.M.’s “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine),” recorded with the band’s original lineup in 1989. For the next 100 days of Trump’s time as president, the project will be drawing its songs from the Secretly Canadian label’s similar Our First 100 Days, which hopes to raise money for causes like climate change, reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, and more by releasing and selling rare, unreleased, or exclusive material.
