HBO is throwing audiences right back into the world of Westeros with House Of The Dragon, its first and long-awaited Game Of Thrones spin-off. The prequel is set a couple of centuries before Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) destroyed the capital city of King’s Landing before her death. But that’s not the only shocking Game Of Thrones event that cemented the Targaryens as an unforgettable, complicated, and unpredictable family. To that end, this AVQ&A simply asks: What’s the most outrageous Targaryen moment from Game Of Thrones?

Outrageous in every sense of the word, everyone remembers where they were when Daenerys completely incinerated King’s Landing on the back of Drogon—after the city already surrendered. To call it a moment is a bit of a misnomer. What we see is an unrelenting rampage, in broad daylight, that lasts most of the episode. Remember that Targaryen madness we were warned about? Apparently, Robert Baratheon and Tyrion Lannister weren’t exaggerating. The violence at King’s Landing was less a means to an end than simply the end of Daenerys’ run for the Iron Throne. This moment really cemented my love for Tyrion.

Daenerys burning down kings landing was camp, still makes me laugh.Honestly I wish the city folk threw lettuce at her or something before girly went off.

All of these “House of the Dragon Week” articles are starting to work on me. I’m back on the Game of Thrones bandwagon, people. I will watch anything they throw my way, mainly because I don’t need to have high expectations anymore.Plus now that my potentially favorite show of all-time in Better Call Saul is over, everything just pales in comparison. I’m here to have fun.

Mrs. F. and I discussed adding HoD to our weekly watches. I was non-plussed by it but when she asked “How much worse can it be than GoT,” she got me. We loved GoT right until that shit ending with Bran as king. But we’ll give this a spin. Also, it’s got dragons.

I rewatched the entire series and remembered all the fun character interactions and that made me willing yo give it a chance.  But only just.

    • Sarah-Hawke-av says:

Opposite for me. It has one thing that’s got my interest: Matt Smith as a lead, but honestly I’m just more burned out on GoT stuff than a resident of King’s Landing in season 8 episode 5.

    You know what’s outrageous? Slideshows

Huh. My first thought was Viserys feeling up his nearly naked sister, but I guess that’s SOP for the Targs.

I feel like I’m going to be posting this a lot, going forward.

The moment when Daenyrs decides to murder an entire city full of people who had surrendered for reasons.Oh, wait.  That’s just bad writing.

    • dutchmasterr-av says:

Huge missed opportunity there. Could have and should have countered Tyrion’s speech with a plea from a distraught Grey Worm reminding her the masters and the Sons of the Harpy. If they would have rooted out the masters from the start her rule there would have been easier. That way the audience and Dany are weighing those options at the crucial moment.

    • Ruhemaru-av says:

I dunno what was worse, the extremely forced Dany meltdown that should’ve been built up over multiple episodes that the showrunners were given the option for and refused, or Euron Greyjoy being a cartoonish supervillain that kept Cersei’s faction relevant via sheer plot armor.

      • thiazinred-av says:

I think this is why cutting the Young Griff plot was a bad choice. I can see it being very important if the end goal is pushing Dany into snapping.

    • vtrbswarmachine-av says:

It was really bad writing. The entire 8th season was bad hastily written fan Fiction. Complete shoe horn garbage. I blame the fuck wit writer’s and Good ol’ George for not getting his shit together after another second breakfast after appearances he had to make to actually write something. Bro you are famous. You are famous because of your writing. No one wants to see your jolly half bearded mugg unless you do what you were made famous for. Buckle down some and eat the crab legs with some paper towels.

the Dracarys moment is when GoT was firing on all cylinders. I still get excited thinking about watching that scene.

Outrageous? When Daenerys had her baby dragons stolen in Season 2, and almost lost the game before she got a chance to play, lol. I don’t remember much about Season 2 (it’s uneventful on purpose because they were saving the whole budget for Blackwater- Robb Stark is literally winning an entire war offscreen), But I do recall liking Dany’s storyline, now that she was on her own without the Dothraki. “WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS?!” Is an iconic line for me. Also her “fire and blood” speech.

  • thiazinred-av says:

Its a shame they never did the other big reveal from the wall, that the 3 eyed raven is also a Targaryen.

  • xio666-av says:

The most outrageous moment was one Targaryen stabbing another in the back metaphorically and in the heart literally.

This moment was the pinnacle and climax of the entire show!

  • hamiltonistrash-av says:

The thing that got me on to the show was “CROWN FOR A KING”. If they’ll melt one of the characters with a molten crown, I’m in.
