Gen Xers rejoice as Hall And Oates and Tears For Fears announce joint tour

Fortysomething minds are being blown all over the country today as Daryl Hall & John Oates and Tears For Fears have announced that they’re teaming up for a massive tour this summer. As befits vintage pop stars of this magnitude, they will hit 29 North American cities, including Nashville, Miami, New York, Dallas, Toronto, Denver, and Las Vegas; the arenas they’ve booked are rather large as well, like Chicago’s Allstate Arena and the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

According to the press release, Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees Hall & Oates are “the No. 1 selling duo in music history,” based on their many hits from the ’70s and ’80s like “Rich Girl,” “Maneater,” and “You Make My Dreams Come True”. The full announcement featured quotes from both Hall and Oates, who appear to be billing themselves as “Daryl Hall & John Oates” this time around:

“I am very excited to be touring with Tears for Fears. Their music has a timeless quality that complements what we do. I think everyone is going to love this show!” said Daryl Hall.

“I can’t wait to get back out on the road in 2017. Performing with Tears For Fears will be an exciting and musical experience for me and all the fans,” added John Oates.

Tears For Fears, however, was quoted as a unit, even though the group is made up of two separate people, Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. The British duo was also known for its many hits in the early days of MTV, like “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” and “Shout”:

“We’re thrilled to be going out on the road with Daryl Hall & John Oates this summer,” said Tears For Fears. “We’ve been longtime fans of the band so it’ll be fun to reconnect and also to see our fans throughout the U.S.”

Tickets go on sale March 10, so expect many adults to dip into the kids’ college fund as they pony up to purchase some sweet arena tickets and re-live the ’80s.
