Will the James Bond casting rumors ever follow the spy franchises’ famous tune and live and let die? Not today they won’t! New contender and Henry Cavill’s The Witcher replacement Liam Hemsworth has stepped into the ring of “30-something actors who look good in a suit,” this time on the recommendation of former 007 George Lazenby.

The On Her Majesty’s Secret Service actor dropped Hemsworth’s name while speaking with TMZ, saying that The Hunger Games star has the right type of resume to play the iconic spy—including being a “good-looking Aussie dude,” which seems pretty important to Lazenby as he’s Australian himself.

Though Hemsworth might not have the same worldwide recognition as his older brother Chris Hemsworth, Lazenby notes that the future Bond has to be “crazy enough, arrogant enough, confident enough, ambitious enough to take on the role” after Daniel Craig, which, according to Lazenby, Hemsworth seems to be.

Although, just because he’s been given the thumbs up from another Bond doesn’t mean he’s truly in the running for the competitive role. Out of all the male thirty-something’s being discussed, Bullet Train actor and Twitter fancam favorite Aaron Taylor-Johnson seems to be the current front-runner after Puck News reported a promising meeting between Johnson and James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli.

Another actor that could put a stop to Hemsworth’s ranking in potential Bond actors is Emily In Paris’ Lucien Laviscount, who The Mail On Sunday claimed had captured Broccoli’s attention. “He is a super talented actor, is extremely handsome and in the past 18 months has won lots of new fans since he joined Emily In Paris,” said a source to the publication. “Bond bosses are already saying how you can see him in the 007 tuxedo, how dapper and fitting to the role he will look.”

Even if he’s barely a spec in the Bond producer’s eyes, Hemsworth’s upcoming role as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher will have him taking over from another proposed favorite for the M16 agent, Henry Cavill. To say to the Isn’t It Romantic star: may the casting odds be in your favor!

Did he throw him like Mr. T? ‘Cause that’d be cool.

“Former 007 George Lazenby throws Liam Hemsworth in the running for James Bond”Wow, today I learned that George Lazenby is part of the group that decides who will play James Bond.Good for him!

    Doesn’t Bond famously have charisma?

  • pie-oh-pah-av says:

I’d take Luke or even Larry over the Least Hemsworth, but would prefer no Hemsworth at all.

  • killa-k-av says:

    Ew, no, please.

  • reformedagoutigerbil-av says:

Lazenby was 007 for about as long as Woody Allen. You’d be better off getting the nod from Desmond Dekker.

Imagine if he got this and left Witcher lmao

An Australian yes, but Hemsworths all look a bit derpy

    • argiebargie-av says:

He’s pretty, bland, and can’t really act; the Jai Courtney of the Sam Worthingtons.

I have some sort of very specific face blindness where all the hemsworths look the same to me. I sat through all of that Rebel Wilson romance satire with Liam and spent the whole time thinking Thor looked weird.

  • argiebargie-av says:

A nod from arguably the worst Bond in the franchise is exactly what we need to ensure this never happens.

    • liffie420-av says:

Also let’s be honest everoyne knows On Her Majesty’s Secret Service isn’t a “real” Bond movie.  We all collectively forget it even exists.

      • spaceladel-av says:

Widely considered to be one of the best films in the series though.

        • liffie420-av says:

Really that usually the one we always skip over when watching the Bond moives LOL I mean it DOES break the top 10 on rotten tomatoes at #9

        • sketchesbyboze-av says:

it is far and away my favorite pre-Craig Bond movie (granted I haven’t seen Octopussy)

        • 2sylabl-av says:

My favorite of them all. Lazenby has been a punching bag for 50 years, and he sucked much less than history remembers.I’m in love with Diana Rigg, myself, but, sure, I’d think about Lucien Laviscount for the job.

        • pthelin1-av says:

Lazenby—and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service—was the closest to the Bond and the story of Fleming’s novels as opposed to the over-the-top movies.

      • slider6294-av says:

No way—it’s a solid film. Lazenby isn’t an actor and he’s admitted as much. It was also a VERY awkward position to put him in (and that 4th wall breaking moment), but it’s a totally upper tier Bond film and underappreciated, IMO. And maybe the best Blofeld and some of the best cinematography in a series that is known for it. And Diana Rigg was awesome too.

    • liebkartoffel-av says:

Lazenby was fine and OHMSS is one of the top five best Bond movies.

      • 2sylabl-av says:

Lazenby has been a punching bag for 50 years, and he sucked much less than history remembers. And I’m in love with Dame Diana Rigg, myself, but I’d absolutely do some screen testing with Lucien Laviscount.

      • mifrochi-av says:

But is one of the top 5 “Bond moives?”

    • satanscheerleaders-av says:

Lazenby was great in Master Ninja II.

    • tmontgomery-av says:

Odd that On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is still among the best Bond movies despite Lazenby. Diana Rigg is Bond’s best match ever, Telly Savalas is arguably the best, at least most purposeful, Blofeld and John Barry contributes his best Bond score. Not worthwhile, essential.

      • liebkartoffel-av says:

It was (the 2006) Casino Royale before Casino Royale—back to basics, lighter on the gadgets and theatricality, closer to the novels. In that regard I think Lazenby’s lack of experience is a point in his favor. He’s supposed to be a young Bond in over his head, like Craig in Royale. I’m curious to see how and if he would have grown into the role, given the opportunity—or, rather, had Lazenby not acted like an ass and squandered the opportunity himself.

    • paulfields77-av says:

Lazenby’s not great but it’s a very good film.

    • admnaismith-av says:

I start my Bond watch on disc with OHMSS (the best, or at least top five of the series) and I find Lazenby a perfectly fine Bond (due largely to the strong directing by Peter Hunt).Liam Hemsworth? Why not.., But he may be a bit too good looking.

    • merlekessler-av says:

He was fine.  One of the better James Bond movies.  And I love James Bond movies.

    • joe-mamma01-av says:

I suppose you haven’t seen any of the Roger Moore bond films?

Another Bruce to play England’s favorite Nigel?Great. There goes another monocle.

  • r0n1n76-av says:

riight…because if they were into fancasting (even from a prior Bond) they would have listened to the people clamoring for Idris. We all know that’s less than a snowballs chance, just like having a Hemsworth take up the ppk.

  • bc222-av says:

Liam Hemsworth is, at best, the 008 or whatever who gets killed in the first five minutes, whose murder Bond has to investigate.

  • signeduptoyellatyou-av says:

Lucien Laviscount is a TV actor with zero starring roles in major films. His biggest movie is “The Bye Bye Man”. He’s not getting Bond and I’m sorry, but looking at his cheekbones I highly doubt he’s getting work because he’s a “super talented actor”.

  • TeoFabulous-av says:

    Sigh.It’s “MI6,” not “M16.”

  • captain-impulse-av says:

    FUCK. NO.

  • ghostofghostdad-av says:

Our Majesty’s Secret Service was pretty dope but I doubt that George Lazenby has much pull in casting the next Bond.

  • anathanoffillions-av says:

Can anybody point me to anything where Liam Hemsworth shows any signs whatsoever of being interesting?
