Arthur Miller: Writer (HBO, 8 p.m.): The life of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Arthur Miller is its own fascinating tale: He crafted an elegy for the middle class with Death Of A Salesman, but it was his most widely read and adapted work, The Crucible, that put him on the radar of the House Un-American Activities Committee. Miller was also a successful screenwriter who was once married to Marilyn Monroe. Now 13 years after this death, the Tony winner is the subject of a documentary by his daughter, filmmaker Rebecca Miller. Arthur Miller: Writer is a moving tribute, comprising footage of interviews the Personal Velocity director shot with her father, as well as chats with Mike Nichols and Tony Kushner that provide glimpses into the Misfits writer’s creative process. The film debuted at New York Film Festival last fall, and is making its television premiere tonight on HBO.
