Haley Lu Richardson really wishes everyone would see her Sundance hit, Columbus

Haley Lu Richardson is one of the most promising young talents in Hollywood, with star-making turns in The Edge Of Seventeen, Split, and last year’s Support The Girls. On the red carpet for the MTV Movie & TV Awards, we spoke with Richardson about her favorite roles, and why everyone needs to see her Sundance hit, Columbus.

    I’m not one to emotionally invest in celebrity couples, but I nevertheless find it delightful that she and Brett Dier are married.

    I didn’t really care for Columbus. Part of it is that I always go in thinking I’m going to like aimless tone-poem movies more than I actually do, and part of it is that I found Richardson’s character kind of annoying.

      Absolutely! Also between that, Support the Girls and seeing how see “really” is in this interview – she has incredible range..

    I loved this movie, and I would’ve totally missed it if not for the glowing New Yorker review. Haley Lu Richardson is a damn delight. I saw her first in Support the Girls, where she does really stellar work with a role that could’ve fallen flat. I’m now a fan for life.

    Columbus is streaming on Hulu now.

    It’s a little long for what it is, but the director of Columbus made film analysis videos (probably still does) before he got to the movie. This is my favorite one:
