As teased back in March, Netflix has officially announced Patriot Act, a new talk show from comedian Hasan Minhaj that will premiere on October 28. The weekly show already has a 32-episode order, which a press release says is “unprecedented,” and it makes Minhaj the first Indian-American host of a weekly comedy show like this. The same press release says Patriot Act will “explore the modern cultural and political landscape with depth and sincerity” and that Minhaj will use his “unique comedic voice and storytelling skill to investigate the larger trends shaping our fragmented world.” That all sounds mildly vague, but Minhaj’s 2017 comedy special Homecoming King was good enough to earn him the benefit of the doubt.
