January is rarely a big month for the movies, and this January is no exception. The movie that was poised to be the biggest box office hit of month was pushed to April thanks to the Omicron surge. But there’s still plenty to look forward to if you’re a movie fan.

Scream, the latest entry in the meta-slasher franchise, hits theaters on January 14. Much of the original core cast returns, including Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Neve Campbell. Ready Or Not’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett replace the late Wes Craven as directors.

Elsewhere, Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, and Lupita Nyong’o star in the spy action film The 355. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania premieres on Amazon Prime Video with Brian Hull replacing Adam Sandler as the voice of Count Dracula. Peter Dinklage stars as the titular character in the musical romantic drama Cyrano.

Missing from this list is Licorice Pizza which doesn’t get a wide release until Christmas Day. Looks like I’m in for Nightmare Alley, Spider-Man, the Matrix, and if they’re available near me Licorice Pizza and Macbeth. Busy couple of weeks. Surprised Disney is putting up King’s Man against The Matrix.

I’m hoping to see Nightmare Alley, Spider-Man, and Macbeth in theatres. Fingers crossed omicron is nothing for the vaccinated as it’s shown up in my city.

There are some who are specifically not watching the last Spider-Man trailer to not know who the slew of villains are so thank you for contributing to the “unavoidable spoilers everywhere”. Believe it or not, some people actually dont want to know every beat of the film before seeing it. This may come as a massive shock to people but some people actually DO like being surprised in the moment.

The title here that is most exciting to me is Flee. I live in the sticks, but will be in/near Chicago at Christmas. Might have to buy a ticket for that one!

It will be interesting if Nightmare Alley keeps the novel’s dark finish. The Tyrone Power film–as good as it is–copped out toward the end.

Scary of 61st is the movie of the year

C’mon, West Side Story, just give up the theatrical run and show up on VOD!

Also, two getting lots of buzz… The Tragedy Of Macbeth coming to Apple this week, and A Hero coming to Amazon Prime 1/21/22
