Here are the nominees for the 2022 Grammy Awards
Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, and Jon Batiste all the lead the list of nominations for the 64th annual Grammy Awards

The nominees for the 2022 Grammy Awards have been announced and this year, Olivia Rodrigo is leading the pack. Olivia Rodrigo scored seven nominations including ones for the big four categories: Best New Artist, Song Of The Year, Album Of The Year, and Record Of The Year.
Other notable nominations include: Bo Burnham who scored a nomination for Best Music Film, and BTS continues to break through that thick, anti-K-pop, Grammys glass ceiling, scoring another nom, this time for its single “Butter.” The group’s previous Grammy nomination was for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for its single “Dynamite.” Lil Nas X, Jon Batiste, H.E.R., and Doja Cat also made an impressive mark on this year’s nominations
This list of nominees for the 2022 Grammys is the first batch picked under the awards’ revamped nomination process. Instead of the previous secret committee of artists and industry experts that picked a list of nominees, now the nomination went to artist who received the largest number of votes from the entire whole body of eligible Academy members. The Grammys have also expanded the number of nominees in the Big Four categories of the evening; nominees have gone from 8 to 10.
This year’s ceremony featured appearances from: Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., Board of Trustees chair Tammy Hurt, Gayle King, comedian Nate Bargatze, and artists BTS, H.E.R., Måneskin, Jon Batiste, Carly Pearce and Tayla Parx.
The ceremony itself will air on January 21, 2022 on CBS. A host for the Grammys has yet to be announced, but Trevor Noah got the gig earlier this year for the 2021 ceremony, so who knows, maybe he’ll be asked to return.

Blind boys of Alabama is a must see, if you want to have a real, real spiritual moment in the crowd. I’m an Athesist, and I (and the 3 others), marveled at the talent, and soul that those boys brought. See them live. Seriously.
I’ve never seen them live, but I love their stuff. I’m absolutely not religious but listening to them is, well, a spiritual experience.
Just here like always to say,A lot of this genre is bullshit. There’s almost no real difference and there really needs to be a real discussion on fixing genre in general. Rock vs Hard Rock? Alternative is basically just Rock under 30. Folk vs Americana vs Bluegrass vs Country?And Pop isn’t really a genre. It’s just popular music. Vocal Acoustic, Vocal Electronic Backing, Vocal InstrumentL Backing are more fitting.Besides that, nominations mostly make sense with usually Grammy being Grammy outliers.

Ok Best New Artist has been a dumb category for at least 45 years but Jesus, even old-ass, ignorant-ass me has been aware of Glass Animals for 5 years.
I think requirements are such that the New Artist doesn’t need to be new (this old man knows Japanese Breakfast has been around for at least 6 -7 years), but should have had a breakthrough during the eligibility window. These rules are funny.

Also why does this category need to have ten nominees? I get Record and Song of the Year being bulked up but is there really such a sea of worthy newcomers in this category? It seems like they could toughen up standards for newness and still have a solid five nominees.

Wow, the stark, sad proof that I am less musically literate than read in all the other arts: the vast majority of songs and albums on the excerpted list I haven’t heard. Another list of nominees for the ‘irrelevant’ awards. The only nomination that matters in the whole bunch, that has any semblance of importance or artistical wit, is obviously T. Swift’s Evermore, a phenomenal album that saw her breaking new creative ground in her career. Great collaborations on that album and it’s just awe inspiring, jumping from pop to folk pop to bedroom rock. The rest, yuck, throw it all in the garbage. I watched J. Batiste do his live Austin show and you can’t make this guy big. Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish. We need a real music awards show. America needs to give out awards to what its actual music is, not its tired popular bullshit the rest of the world spits on. This is why we’re so embarrassing, because we conflate art with capitalism. We’re a disgusting bunch.
