Here’s how Glenn Howerton would have looked in Guardians Of The Galaxy

Donald Glover did not become Spider-Man, at least not on the big screen, despite the demands of social media. Neither did John Krasinski win the role of Captain America. And now comes word that Glenn Howerton of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia would have been director James Gunn’s second choice to play the Star-Lord in Guardians Of The Galaxy. One might argue that big budget superhero movies have some sort of grudge against quirky sitcom actors, if the career-making Guardians role had not gone to Chris Pratt of Parks And Recreation.

In retrospect, given the enormous box office success of the film, it seems wise that Gunn opted for Pratt’s amiable goofiness over Howerton’s snarky self-absorption. But as the John Greenleaf Whittier once declared, “For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, ‘It might have been.’” Glenn Howerton’s consolation prize comes in the form of a YouTube mock trailer created by CinemaGunk! that reimagines Guardians with Howerton in the lead role. Along with some altered clips from the finished movie, the trailer also incorporates some video and audio from It’s Always Sunny, with particular emphasis on the Gang’s infamous “Nightman” opera.
