With just two episodes to go and the season-one endgame in sight, we're sizing up the inevitable conflict to come

It’s hard to believe that the end of House Of The Dragon season one is just a little over a week away. Everything that’s happened so far has led us here, to the end of King Viserys I’s reign and the brink of war between Team Alicent and Team Rhaenyra. Farewell, dear Viserys. You may not have been a great king, but you were a great man. What will his death unleash upon the Seven Kingdoms? Is this the beginning of the end for House Targaryen? As the opening monologue informed us, “The only thing that could tear down the House of the Dragon was itself.” Here are some other questions on our minds as we head into the penultimate episode.

I don’t think we have any idea where Dany’s eggs came from. People latched on to the idea that three were stolen and ended up in Essos. The thing is though Illyrio must have had more than three. He supports “Aegon VI” and by his own admission expected Dany to die. It doesn’t make sense that he would put all his eggs in her basket.
I believe, in the book, some Triarchy pirates seized a cog that was carrying Targ (or Targ-adjacent) children and captured the eggs they had brought with them. I assumed those were the eggs Illyrio presented Dany. Of course, we haven’t seen that yet in the show and who knows if we will.
Thing is, nobody was expecting the eggs to hatch. The last dragon died around 170 years ago at that point and the eggs were no more than fancy heavy rocks. It is a miracle that they hatched, let alone Daenerys walked out of the pyre unhurt. Had Illyrio known or expected them to hatch, there is no way he would have given her a single egg, let alone the only three in his position.
I’m aware no one was expecting them to hatch. They’re still very expensive and a potentially powerful symbol that “hey this person is a Targaryen!” which he very much needs for fake Aegon. (I suspect he has Blackfyre in one of those trunks as well.)
Welp, HOD is no GOT. ITs just a boring Hallmark movie with a few dragon scenes.
