October is when streaming services like dropping obscure horror films and thrillers to get into the Halloween spirit. For instance, Eva Green is always scary-good, so her role as a fashion designer with a mysterious malady in the thriller Nocebo seems like a solid October addition. Ditto for Lizzy Caplan, who plays a creepy mom in Cobweb. Other movies on deck for Hulu include Ben Kingsley in Dalíland, the irresistibly campy-looking Slotherhouse, the recent theatrical horror movie The Boogeyman, plus seasonal flicks such as Interview With The Vampire, Shaun Of The Dead, Daybreakers, and more. So bust out the bite-sized candy bars and Haribo Gummies and have a nosh while you scare yourself silly on Hulu.

I agree that Daybreakers is underrated. But seriously and more importantly, Ethan Hawke just needs to keep working until the sun dies or the pagans resurrect their plant god or whatever. He’s always (okay, often) very good. I was surprised at how tender his performance was when he popped up in a recent cameo on a show.
Ethan Hawke started out as seemingly ragged, slacky, and lowbrow but the world caught up to him, as it did to Keanu
I wouldn’t say the world caught up to them; I’d say they became better actors and more nuanced and capable. Both of them were, candidly, pretty shit early on and were almost one-dimensional caricatures.
Shaun of the Dead is an instant classic. Especially good for the zombi-phobic.
I prefer the parody of Schrader’s film where the protagonist is remarkably adept at tying fishing fly lures, trailing chum, onanism, etc.

“The Boogeyman” is worth it just for Chris Messina’s gradually graying beard. That man is such a stud!
