Fellow fans of one of TV’s most gloriously fucked up relationships, it’s our time to shine: Interview With The Vampire is almost back, over a year after season one wrapped up. The cable network dropped a long, haunting look at what to expect in the new episodes, and trust that Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) is still as tortured as ever, even if he’s got a new romantic interest.

That’s right, folks. Louis might be pining over the self-indulgent Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid)—they can’t help themselves—but he also has a different partner to gush over. As revealed in the trailer, he’s been with Armand (Assad Zaman) for several decades by the time season two picks up in 1940. After meeting in Paris where Louis has fled with Claudia (Delainey Hayles), they launch a relationship that promises to have dire consequences. Naturally, in the present day, Louis is narrating his life story to Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian), a journalist determined to figure out how true Louis’ tales are.

The impressive three-and-a-half-minute (!) trailer is haunting and visually stunning. It offers a glimpse at the intensity of Louis and Armand’s bond, which promises to be toxic in its own right. Despite being with him for 77 years, Louis can’t help but dream of Lestat, who seems to have more violent shit in store for everyone. The best part of the footage, though, comes at the end when Anderson displays his acting chops completely. Just press play.

An Extended Look at Season 2 | Interview with the Vampire | Premieres May 12 | AMC+

Interview With The Vampire is AMC’s first big show in the Anne Rice TV Universe. It was followed by 2023's Mayfair Witches, led by Alexandra Daddario. The network is actively developing a third series based on the secret Talamasca society, which is featured in various Rice novels.

Created by Rolin Jones, ITVW has set a high benchmark for these adaptations. It’s sexy, compelling, and emotional—we highly recommend it. The cast includes Ben Daniels, John DiMaggio, Chris Stack, and Kalyne Coleman.

The eight-episode second season premieres on May 12, 2024.
