Is that light switch in Better Call Saul hooked up to anything?

Polite Fight, the internet’s most cordial argument over the aesthetics of TV, returns with A.V. Club editor-in-chief John Teti and senior producer Gus Spelman poring over the new season of Better Call Saul. Jimmy’s fancy new office at Davis And Main is a point of focus for our commentators this week, as Gus notes the Slippin’ Jimmy reference hanging on the wall and John remarks on our hero’s choice of desk. And naturally, we ask (and attempt to answer): What’s going on with that switch?

A couple of program notes. We’re not incorporating reader comments into the Polite Fight discussion this week or next week, but only because we had to tape these discussions in advance—Gus is on vacation right now. Believe me, we missed having the comments at our side to spot the stuff we missed. Also, if you’re viewing this video shortly after the episode aired, you’ll probably notice the incredibly intrusive copyright notices splashed across the Better Call Saul clips. In the interest of getting this video to you as quickly as possible, Gus edited it together using footage from our screeners. Our intrepid video team plans to swap in clean clips by the morning. Thanks for watching!
