In a stunning display of gall, Jeffrey “Ja Rule” Atkins is genuinely considering planning a music festival in a post-Fyre Festival era.
In conjunction with his newest entertainment booking platform Iconn, the rapper and Fyre Festival co-founder hinted at potential plans to launch another music festival that will, hopefully, be much lighter on the catastrophic failure and will actually, you know, happen. TMZ caught up with him at LAX on Thursday, where they asked about the two streaming documentaries chronicling his first attempt at a major music event with partner Billy McFarland.
“I haven’t watched them yet,” Rule claimed, which directly contradicts his own tweet on January 20, where he stated he was watching the docs “in awe.” And while the rest of the internet has already settled comfortably in the meme stage of popular media consumption, he notes that the events were no laughing matter to him (aside from the joke he cracked after the Netflix doc dropped) because he wanted to create something special.
“In the midst of chaos, there’s opportunity,” Rule pivoted optimistically before talking vaguely about plans in the works, including shaping Iconn into the success that the Fyre predecessor never saw, complete with a supplementary music event. “I have plans to create the iconic music fest, but you didn’t hear it from me!”
There is a silver lining here: when you hit the absolute rockiest of bottoms, there’s nowhere to go but up. If Blink-182 actually shows up just to eat a cheese sandwich onstage, that would still be a major success, in comparison.

Remember when no one knew where Ja was? Those were good days.
I just want to know how 9/11 affected him.

Lenny Kravitz’s words are so true.
It’s funny. I was there when it happened. That blank look Daly mentioned is etched in my memory, though I never took it as a “We’re All In This Together” expression; more of a post-concussion, “What The Fuck Just Happened” expression.
He just needs to make sure he partners with somebody who has actual experience and skill at setting these things up, and not a fraudster.
Ehhhh, he was a big enabler of the fraud. And I don’t know if I trust someone who was unable to see how blindlingly obvious the fraud was.
And showed a complete lack of contrition for the consequences of his actions in the aftermath. In the Netflix doc, in a conference call after the festival, all he cared about was saving the brand’s reputation, and displayed a callous if not criminal indifference to the suffering he had caused.
He IS a fraudster.Oops, a “false advertiser,” to paraphrase his words.
and it will be called the Liar Festival.
Lyre Festival
If that’s a festival featuring oral recitations of Homer, I’m in.
Seems like the sort of thing Sting would be onboard for.
Ja Rule on making any good music or business decisions:“you didn’t hear it from me!”
I hope he learned his lesson to not hire any marketing firms off LinkedIn.
The Fyre Festival had excellent marketing. They were able to persuade thousands of people to buy $500+ tickets for something entirely imaginary.
I would like to announce my music festival, the Country All Star Hootenanny. At this time we only accept checks, which can be made out to to our acronym, CASH.
Hold up! Ja Rules real name is Jeffrey?
If at fyrst you don’t succeed…Maybe go back to basics, call it FlynteFest?
Yce Festival – A transformative VIP experience. An immersive music festival. A luxurious property once owned by Adolph Hitler himself. Early bird specials from $99,999.00. All sales final.
So, Ja’s new company is called “Iconn”?Man, the jokes really just write themselves, don’t they?
Is Andy gonna help? Cuz if you need water Andy is there for you.
Why is he not back in jail?
Create “another”? When did he first create one? So far I’ve only seen him partake in a scam. And I don’t say “create” in that case, I say “partake”.He’s got some lofty goals for having zero experience in the area he’s wanting to undertake. Sort of like the current US President – which we all know how well that is going. With that in mind, I’m interested to see how well this goes for him.
