Jane Krakowski joining Tina Fey's new NBC sitcom

Aux Features TV

Not only is Tina Fey re-teaming with 30 Rock executive producer Robert Carlock for a new NBC sitcom, but, according to Deadline, said sitcom will now also feature Jane Krakowski, everyone’s favorite Jenna Maroney. Krakowski has been cast in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which stars Ellie Kemper as an overly optimistic ex-cult member who decides to take charge of her life by moving to New York City. Kimmy moves in with a struggling actor, played by Tituss Burgess, a.k.a. D’Fwan, everyone’s favorite gay hair dresser/homosexual party planner. She also gets a job working for Krakowski’s rich Manhattan family as a nanny.

Krakowski landed the role shortly after Fox shut down her comedy pilot, Dead Boss. If things weren’t already 30 Rock enough, the pilot for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt had already been filmed with Megan Dodds in Krakowski’s role. The character, who was only featured in one scene, was quickly reshot with Krakowski—not unlike how she landed her 30 Rock role.
